People call me “Blackjack” for a reason, I dare say I am one of the best card players to ever set foot in Las Vegas. From an early age, growing up in this great city, I knew how to play cards, it’s probably the first thing I learnt to do, perhaps even before walking and talking. Right from the beginning, I just got it. I understood how to play and I knew how to win. Once my father had taught me the basic rules of Blackjack and Poker, I was on my way to being one of the smartest players to ever play the game. While friends and siblings were out kicking a ball or riding a bicycle, I was sitting inside, perfecting my card playing strategies and soon my very own poker face. It wasn’t long before I would win against all of my father’s friends who used to visit our house for a weekly card game.
My hunger to learn how to play lots of different games and excel at them seemed insatiable. Was I a good loser? Most certainly not, I detested the feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you lose and soon vowed to never lose again. In fairness, I haven’t lost many and when I consider all the things one might succeed at, gambling has always been mine. Of course I drove my parents insane with my desire to play, my lack of interest in other things and my lack of ambition when it came to schoolwork. Regardless of how many times I was initially scolded by my parents, I always continued to play, often secretly.
A few times, I took big hits and lost all my possessions which only strengthened my resolve to play hard, play smart and to always win. “Use your head”, I always say to opponents when they fail to understand why I beat them once again. Poker, Blackjack and all other gambling requires a lot of concentration, strategic thinking and smartly applied intelligence. “Leave your emotions at the door”, I also tell losing opponents, just because you must never let your feelings get in the way of your playing strategy, but instead you must remain cool and collected at all times.
My parents continued to try and maintain my interest in school and were unaware of my participation in underground tournaments for a long time. There is no school where they teach you how to play well and to become successful you must have drive, a desire to win and exceptional observational skills. During countless games, I would watch and learn, often from players much older and more experienced than I, but because I had those three qualities, I got stronger, smarter and better than the rest put together.
I couldn’t wait to leave school, spent the last few summer vacations as a teenager, working odd jobs at various casinos and watched and learned and dreamed of soon joining the ranks of professional poker players. Ultimately, my parents had to give in and realize that this was the only career I was ever going to succeed at and I am proud to say that I have mastered card playing, have done exceptionally well financially, have never gambled my life away and have always managed to keep my head and win.
My time is now divided between playing at casinos, participating in tournaments and playing online. The emergence of online gambling opened a whole new dimension to the different games and demanded a new set of skill for those who truly want to win, simply because you are not sitting across from your opponent when you play online.
The idea to create a website, an online gambling forum, grew out of the desire to support new talent, make resources available, introduce some fun tips and serious strategies and to invite people on my life journey as a professional gambler.
As a now well-known professional, I have been in a position to build a network of professional gamblers and though we may be bitter rivals across the poker table, we collaborate and exchange valuable information without giving our own personal secrets away!
My colorful story has caught the imagination of thousands of people and the large number of website visitors has allowed me to make money from selling advertising space on my site as well as through affiliate gambling programs.
Blackjack has now an online presence and hopes to see you on this site soon and often!
