There is a lot of money in playing poker. The great thing about this game is that the house does not always win, because players are not playing against the house!  They are playing against other players and all they have is luck and skill on their side.

The game of poker has changed over the years, with it first being a game of enjoyment to it being a career for many.  With the introduction of the internet, poker has grown considerably and now any player with access to the internet can play poker online with a chance to perfect their skills and strategies.  This article will cover some of the professional poker players out there earning millions in this great game.

John Juanda

One of the world’s “poorest” poker players is John Juanda, who has won 4 World Series of Poker (WSOP) titles with earnings of around $4.4 million. Juanda was born in Indonesia and lives in California.  His nickname is JJ or Luckbox and his favourite game is Texas Hold’em.  Juanda started playing professionally in 1996 and only took 3 years to get to the final table of the WSOP.  He is also known as player of the year by Cardplayer Magazine in 2001 and 2002, a great achievement.

Annie Duke

Annie Duke is a professional female poker player and is known as the Duchess of poker.  Annie has had great success, even in the early years of her career.  In 2004 Annie won the WSOP gold bracelet and has continued to grow, both in her poker career as well as her personal life.  Not only is she a poker star and someone who enjoys blackjack 21 online, she is also an author and philanthropist and has put out a DVD on how to play poker as well as making appearances in TV shows.

Vanessa Selbst

Another great female poker star is Vanessa Selbst with a nett worth of over $11.83 million.  She has won numerous events such as 2008 WSOP, 2015 Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout, 2012 WSOP six handed 10 game tournament and among all these she is also a civil rights lawyer and a Yale graduate.

Andrew Feldman

Andrew Feldman is from the UK and started playing early.  When he was 18 he began playing poker online, but unfortunately his success turned into an addiction and rumour has it that when he was 27 he lost everything and began attending Gamblers Anonymous.  Feldman turned his luck around and managed to win back all his losses.  He now has a net worth of around $8 million.

Daniel Negreanu

Considered as one of the best players in the world, Daniel Negreanu is Canadian born, and by 2015 he had won 6 WSOP bracelets and 2 World Poker titles. He has played at many of Canada’s top land based casinos, and casinos across the globe. His nickname is Kid Poker, and although he has become very wealthy through his skilful poker playing he is a great benefactor of many charities, as well as being an author and a TV celebrity.  It is said that he has a net worth of $15 million.

Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey has won 10 WSOP bracelets as well as a World Poker title.  He has managed to accumulate a large fortune and it is thought he has a net worth of $100 million.  He has been called the Tiger Woods of poker, and became aware of his love for the game early on in life when he used to play with his co-workers.  Not only is he a brilliant poker player, but also a successful businessman and continues to give back to the community and supports various charities.
